Zusammenfassung:In 2006, the European construction industry performed extremely well, with a growth rate of 3.7 percent due to excellent overall economic conditions. This year, the construction sector is expected to grow by 2.4 percent in all the 19 Euroconstruct countries, according to the Euroconstruct Conference of June 2007. For 2008 and 2009, a more moderate growth rate of 1.8 percent and 2 percent, respectively, is forecast, i.a. as a consequence of a decline in new residential building. The civil engineering sector, on the other hand, should achieve above-average growth rates, especially in the new EU countries which are accelerating their infrastructure development with the help of the EU structural funds. The Country Report includes the current forecasts and developments of the construction industry in 19 European countries up to 2009. Individual sectors, such as residential construction, non-residential construction and civil engineering, are analysed by country and the reports are underpinned by a database consisting of more than 10,000 data.
