Zusammenfassung:In 2020, a study was conducted to quantify the economic and ecological footprint of the European spirits sector (EU27 + UK + Norway + Switzerland = EU+) for the pre-COVID year 2019. The aim was to estimate the effects of the spirits sector on employment, gross value added (GVA) and fiscal variables in every EU+ country. In addition, it also investigated spirits-related tourism effects and the ecological footprint of the sector. The COVID-19 crisis starting in 2020 hit many industries very hard; also spirits-related industries, especially the catering sector. The study at hand is supposed to update the results for the year 2020.
